WHAT A CHALLENGE...
Not only 140m in 3 days but in miserable weather. Nothing could stop them smiling. What a fantastic feeling.

They think it's all over ....
17:56 and the journey's end.
Well done Gerry and William, a BIG thank you from team ToD, I am sure the bubbles tasted fantastic, hopefully you were both able to stay awake long enough to finish the bottle!
An amazing achievement completed in just 36 hours. Now, where did you leave that car???

Gerry & William - day two
A good nights sleep was had after 53 miles on day one. The good news is that all this exercise means you can 'feast' ( on the right things of course!) porridge, fruit and pancakes that's just Breakfast!
The bad news is day two contains an increased amount of climbing and the weather is being typically British ( yes that's rain, rain and during the drier periods wet weather) so hopefully dry suits were packed.
Think of them on your Sunday morning lie in!!!

End of day 1 coast 2 coast
Gerry & William have reached Penrith safely and are still able to walk. The day has gone well with some fantastic scenery along the way. Its been very hilly with a head wind but nothing the duo couldn't cope with.
Slight deviation from the planned route as they started from Whitehaven which added 7 miles to the challenge. They have cycled a fantastic 53 miles today and are now ready for a hot shower and good meal before a good nights sleep in preparation for day 2.
Watch this space for the challenges the team will face tomorrow.

The Bennet's are off and cycling..
Just heard from Gerry and William. 'The going is sunny but fresh and they have just stopped for lunch in Keswick. So far so good'.

Note to self - Not the look you want in the Star!
Photos
Hi everyone.
You will see we have randomly selected some of the photos taken by our brave wheelchair bound paparazzi (Thanks again David and I hope the Lee Majors re-construction went okay today!). We will continue to look out some of the best ones, but here is the link to the whole lot so feel free to look out your own.

Well, what a day.....
In the end 67 children, 9 half marathon runners and 41 adults made up Team ToD at today's Half marathon and 3k fun run and every single one of you was fantastic.
We are still waiting on the official finish times for the marathon runners in the team but we know that all finished within 2hrs 10mins, with Jack 1st past the post at 1hr 38mins. Once all the times are available we will put them on the blog.
The children running the fun run were amazing. Special mention to Annabel (8) and Sofia (5) who participated on their birthday. Unfortunately 2 of the team had minor bumps and have gone home with sore knees, but this didn't stop either of them completing the challenge. Well done Laura and Katie.
We never imagined that the team would grow the way it has. There are some very special people who have supported the success of the team for the last 2 years and you know who you are. This year we would like to say a very special thank you to David and Annabel Wales who have helped printing, awareness, IT, along with participating in the half marathon today and David (official ToD photographer) standing for 4 hours at the side of the track taking photos, despite breaking his leg on Thursday night and sporting a toe to thigh plaster cast.
Watching all involved running in the ToD t-shirt was fantastic and emotional and we believe together we have raised lots of local awareness and funds into type 1 diabetes in Sheffield.
Thank you to each and everyone of you for participating.
See you next year!
Clare & David.
P.s photos to follow.

Last minute preparations....
First of all can we wish all the half marathon runners a good nights sleep, plenty of carbs, hydration, no last minute injury 'niggles' and suitable weather for tomorrow.
For everyone taking part in the fun run, to ensure we maximise the exposure of ToD we would like to all meet together in the 'corner seats' near the half marathon start so that we can get some photos and cheer on the Half Marathon runners as they go through.
The Half marathon starts at 9am and the fun run as soon as all the runners have gone through (around 9.15) so get there early to soak up what is usually a great atmosphere before the race.
For the fun runners it would also be good to start the run 'en masse' together for the same reason (we are aiming to get as many photos as possible loaded onto the web by the end of the day - so watch out for your picture) although we realise that some may be running somewhat faster than others once we set off!
The forecast for tomorrow is dry ( as I type anyway!) but should this change then please wear your ToD T shirts over the top of waterproofs etc as this will again help us gain maximum exposure and improve awareness.
For those of you taking part for the first time, the trams are the favoured way of getting to Don Valley and extra early services are being put on, but please be aware depending where your stop is you may not get on the first tram you try as they can be packed!
Thank you everyone for your efforts, we look forward to seeing you all in the morning.
Clare, David, James & Grace.

Charge!!!
On the run, the chasing pack at this week's training session with Harry leading everyone round and already out of shot after one lap.
Ready.... Steady .... Go!!
Some of the children 'in training' for this weeks run at a bank holiday campsite (don't worry it wasn't a last minute boot camp). Only 6 days to go, are you SURE you can run 3K (or over 13 miles of course... :))

ToD t-shirt is fab...
I have just collected this years running T-shirt and they are fantastic. Can't wait to see all the children on the starting line wearing them. You will all look fantastic as well as raise lots of awareness of type 1 diabetes in children.
Many thanks to Anette at logo leisurewear ltd for her help with organising these T-shirts.

Sunday's Cotswold Run....The Pressure's on!
Hi Everyone,
Thanks again for taking a look at the blog! Its great to see it's been of interest to so many of you over the past few weeks!
There I was on Sunday morning at 5.30am getting ready to do my weekly long distance run. I bet you think I'm mad. I am mad! I was visiting family in the Cotswolds and knew that I would have no other time to get the distance in! And those rural roads are much quieter early on a Sunday morning! It was frosty and I was shattered from the day before but I knew the marathon was 14 days away so there wasn't a moment to loose! The pressure is on!
I ran from the village my parents live (Hook Norton) to the nearest market town (Chipping Norton) and took the longest root possible. The great thing about the Oxfordshire countryside is that there are plenty of long steep hills to get your heart rate up and test your stamina! Look at me now talking like a real half marathon runner! All jokes aside, It was a real challenge getting up so early and throwing myself out in the cold knowing that I had 20K to run before getting on with the day!
And I did it in 1h 36 mins! I was pleased with this time and the run was good compared to my last Oxfordshire run on which I fell and was left with a few minor injuries!
Thanks for your continued support! If you read this then why not give me a comment! It would be great to interact with you!
